Within the scope of external stakeholder meetings aimed at developing the educational and training processes of the Design Department in line with sectoral needs, a series of visits were carried out by Lect. Serdar Dik, Head of the Design Department at Muş Alparslan University Technical Sciences Vocational School.
As part of the visits, a meeting was held with Turhan Sur, Principal of Muş Şehit Yücel Kurt Oğlu Fine Arts High School, during which evaluations were made regarding the current state of art and design education at the secondary education level, student guidance processes, and opportunities for inter-institutional cooperation. The importance of educational continuity between fine arts high schools and vocational schools was emphasized.
Another stop of the visits was Arem Printing House, where a meeting was held with the business owner Alparslan Toplu. During the meeting, the role of design in the printing and publishing sector, developments in digital printing technologies, and the qualifications expected from designers in the industry were discussed. Views were exchanged on increasing students’ practice-based learning outcomes and providing internship opportunities.
In addition, a meeting was held with İdris Çelik, owner of Aktif Reklam, during which current design trends in advertising and visual communication, brand identity development processes, and local employment expectations in the sector were evaluated. The contribution of creative design to competitive advantage in the advertising sector was emphasized, and evaluations were made regarding the productivity and learning processes of students undertaking internships.
It is aimed that these visits will contribute to updating the Design Department curriculum in line with sector expectations, increasing students’ professional competencies, and strengthening university–industry cooperation.
