Students of the Graphic Design Program within the Design Department of our University’s Technical Sciences Vocational School (TBMYO) carried out a technical field trip in order to reinforce their professional knowledge and skills through hands-on experience. Within the scope of the visit, guided by Design Department instructor Lect. Ertuğrul Erbey, the students visited Alternatif Reklam, a company operating in the field of outdoor advertising.
During the technical visit, students had the opportunity to gain detailed information on many aspects of outdoor advertising, ranging from the design process to the production stage, from material selection to application techniques. In presentations delivered by company representative Sezgin Hatipağaoğlu, current technologies used in the sector, creative design processes, and the role of graphic designers in professional life were conveyed through practical examples. By observing how the theoretical knowledge acquired in their courses is applied in the industry, students increased their professional awareness.
Throughout the visit, students actively asked questions about the design and implementation processes of outdoor advertising and received comprehensive information on professional practices from company owner Sezgin Hatipağaoğlu. In this respect, the event became an important experience that enabled students to become closely acquainted with the sector and to shape their career planning more consciously.
Evaluating the educational importance of the technical visit, Dr. Fatih Şevgin, Director of TBMYO, stated:
“The importance of practical education in vocational schools is increasing day by day. We consider it extremely valuable for our students to meet the sector at an early stage. Thanks to such technical visits, our students have the opportunity to observe their theoretical knowledge in real production environments and strengthen their professional competencies. I believe that the experiences gained by our Graphic Design Program students during this technical visit will make a significant contribution to their being more prepared for professional life after graduation. I would like to thank our academic staff who contributed to the organization of this meaningful event and the company representatives who hosted us. As TBMYO, we aim to continue practical educational activities that bring our students together with the sector in the coming periods.”
The technical visit concluded with positive feedback, emphasizing its significant contribution to the students’ professional development.
