Mus Martyr Yucel Kurtoglu Fine Arts High School (GSL) and Muş Alparslan University Technical Sciences Vocational School (TBMYO) jointly organized an inspiring conference for fine arts high school students within the scope of the "Muş Martyr Yucel Kurtoglu GSL Career Days" events.

The conference themed "Graphic Design and Industry" was held in the school's conference hall with the participation of Muş Martyr Yucel Kurtoglu GSL Director Turhan Sur, students and teachers in the school's plastic arts department.

Our university's TBMYO Design Department Head Lecturer Serdar Dik participated in the conference as a speaker. Lecturer Dik provided students with comprehensive information about the artistic and communicative dimensions of graphic design and guided them about career opportunities in this field. Lecturer Dik said, “Graphic design is not only a profession, but also an art form. Today, we had the opportunity to introduce students to the vast and dynamic world of graphic design. I recommend young designer candidates to produce original works that will reveal their creativity. I would like to thank Muş Şehit Yücel Kurtoğlu GSL Director Turhan Sur, who provided students with the opportunity to benefit from such events and coordinated the career day events, and our valuable teachers in the education staff, and our university's TBMYO Director Dr. Lecturer Fatih Şevgin for their support in the process. I would also like to thank the young artist and designer candidates, who are the main purpose of this event here today, for listening with patience and excitement, and I hope that they will focus on developing themselves in the field of graphic design and exploring this sector more closely.”

The conference emphasized the requirements of being a graphic designer and the importance of preparing for the sector. Students received information on how to become successful graphic designers by combining creative thinking with technology and the importance of following innovations in the sector. Lecturer Dik also stated to students that creating a good portfolio and networking with industry professionals are critical steps for career development. Muş Şehit Yücel Kurtoğlu GSL Manager Turhan Sur stated that they were happy that this event provided students with new perspectives on their careers and said, “This event, where our students had the opportunity to get to know the sector more deeply, was an important step for them to develop their creativity.” He emphasized that this valuable collaboration and event was an important source of inspiration for the students. Muş Şehit Yücel Kurtoğlu GSL Graphic Design Teacher Zeynep Soğukçelik said, “We hosted Serdar Dik from Muş Alparslan University at our school. We organized a very productive conference on “Graphic Design and Sector”. As a result of this conference, I observed that our students were more curious and interested in the graphic design course. At the same time, with this conference, they learned about which areas they can find jobs in the sector and which areas related to graphic design they can focus on. We also work on the basics of graphic design in our classes and we aim to reflect this in our studies and switch to computer programs in the future. As Serdar Dik also mentioned, there are many sectors in this field. There are many sectors such as printing, cinema, television, press and publishing, textile or freelance work opportunities. Various design methods and information on how to create a design were shared at the conference and it was a very productive process for our students.” he said. The interest and motivation of the students showed that the conference was productive. The event, where the feedback from the participating students was extremely positive, ended with a group photo. In addition, at the end of the conference, a gift prepared with Ebru Art and embroidered with Serdar Dik’s portrait photo was presented by Art Teacher Nesrin Polat on behalf of Muş Şehit Yücel Kurtoğlu GSL.
